was put in place to help hold the revegetated banks. As spring thaws and
storms impacted the site in 1998, much soil was lost and along with it,
many plants. Some have survived and colonized and the race is now between
how fast they can establish root systems and recreate soil and how implaccable
the forces of nature are. This is a reflection of what happens to a site once it has been tampered with. It no longer has the resilience of a natural site. The netting was put in place with wooden stakes and steel anchors. It allows a point of reference to watch this dialog unfold. |
